Dear Friend of DST,
On June 30, Downtown Streets Team’s fiscal year comes to a close.

And what a year it has been for DST … and for me, too! I began as Senior Director of Development in 
October and it’s been a pleasure and a privilege to raise funds to tackle one of California’s 
greatest challenges— homelessness. For me, the moment that best captures the transformative journey 
of our Team Members is when I attended a Weekly Success Meeting in one of our 16 communities. That 
day, one of our Team Members was promoted from a “Yellow Shirt” to a “Green Shirt” within her Team. 
She stood in front of all of us with tears in her eyes and said,

“This isn’t just a shirt … This is an accomplishment.”

I was so moved by the pride in her words, and the immense support her peers on the Team had given 
her.

DST’s unique approach to the problem of homelessness is to create supportive communities for our 
unhoused Team Members and to provide individualized case management for each and every one of our 
clients to help remove the barriers that keep them from attaining housing and
employment.
